Vegetarian Moussaka...

...isn't like real moussaka at all. And it's way not worth the effort. Again, allrecipes.com: Vegetarian Moussaka - Allrecipes

I could see this being really good with a pasta base, or something. It's good, but not great as is.

  1. I'm not an expert (or Greek) but I have eaten a ton of moussaka, and the only recipe I've found so far that comes close to good moussaka is this one: http://greekfood.about.com/od/maindishes/ss/moussaka.htm
(Although I usually triple the amount of spices listed and sometimes add zucchini to the mix)

I haven't used Boca "ground beef" for this particular recipe, but I think it would probably substitute really well to make this dish vegetarian.

  2. oh WOW. that looks good. Do you think it would work with no meat substitute at all?
